Bead Project Director

The Bead Project is a unique scholarship program designed for economically disadvantaged women, femmes, and gender non-conforming individuals in New York City to learn the art of glass beadmaking while gaining an education in entrepreneurship. The Bead Project Director plays a pivotal role in leading this transformative scholarship program.  This program takes place as a semester: an 11 week program. One day a week for 10 weeks, scholarship recipients take part in both studio and classroom coursework where they develop skills in a variety of glass bead techniques, jewelry fabrication and design, product marketing, and practical strategies for launching a successful small business. In between scheduled class sessions, recipients have available studio access for self-directed work time and will also spend time on assignments that build toward an end of semester show. On week 11, scholarship recipients take part in exhibiting and selling work during a trunk show that is open to family, friends and to the general public. In overseeing this 11-week immersive journey, the Bead Project Director fosters an environment where creativity thrives, nurturing a community focused on empowerment, skill-building, and artistic expression.
